Raleigh | Crucial Conversation Luncheon

April 18 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join us Thursday, April 18 for a very special Crucial Conversation luncheon:

North Carolina’s new wave of female lawmakers
Featurinseveral lawmakers first elected during the 2018 “year of the woman” election

The year 2018 was the year of the woman redux, just bigger and better. The first time, historians pointed to the sexual misconduct allegations against then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. This time, another Supreme Court nominee faced sexual misconduct allegations, and the president who nominated him, Donald Trump, faces his own, lengthy list of alleged wrongdoing.

Fittingly, across the U.S., thousands of women filed to run for local, state and national races in 2018, shattering previous records and electing a wave of women candidates. Women, long under-represented in elected offices, are expected to push a slate of progressive policies at the federal level, taking on climate change, immigration and health care.

North Carolina saw its own wave of new women candidates in 2018, with 10 winning office in the General Assembly.

We’ve come a long way, but there is long, long way to go. To that end, N.C. Policy Watch invited all of the new, women lawmakers for a very special Crucial Conversation. Joining us for a non-partisan discussion will be five, first-time members of the N.C. General Assembly:

Rep. Christy Clark, D-Mecklenburg; Rep. Allison Dahle, D-Wake; Rep. Rachel Hunt, D-Mecklenburg; Rep. Julie von Haefen, D-Wake; and Sen. Natasha Marcus, D-Mecklenburg.

Note: Due to shifting schedules at the legislature, more lawmakers may join us. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Don’t miss this very special event!
