We humbly and personally seek your collaboration and solidarity on this, along with the assistance of other righteous and socially conscious people.
We refuse to accept the high rates of violence whether in our neighborhoods; whether by police misconduct; whether by racial or domestic terrorism and massacres; whether by mass shootings; or whether through the violence of oppressive legislation such as heath care denials, death penalties, poverty wages, or economic enslavement.
We will come together with hearts and arms opened for the most hated and systemically neglected; to put “neighbor” back into the “hood;” to rebuild the “whole village” as a “neighborhood” which raises each child and loves its “self” and “neighbors.”
We will use Durham’s rich history of faith, its Black Wall St. and Hayti Community which once consisted of over 120 Black-owned businesses, to again stand against every threat of violence and injustice to say if they could win back then, we can win again!
“Stop Killing Us,” so we may live up to our full potential of greatness.
