If you missed our November edition of “This Is What Democracy Looks Like” last week, we highly recommend you give it a watch. Our fabulous host, Cristel Orrand, and retired Air Force technical sergeant, Gerald Givens Jr. shared some wonderful insights on what it means to serve and how veterans transition back to civilian life.
Sergeant Givens commented his Air Force experience taught him how to “get rooted in shooting for excellence”. Integrity and excellence in all they do is a key core value in the service. He not only embraced that during his tenure, but also brought that into his civilian life, post-military career.
Another topic they touched on is the concept of continually serving your country. Many veterans look for ways to continue to serve, but in different capacities than before. As a community looking to support veterans, we need to recognize this commitment and encourage it. What a fantastic benefit for us all.
