Raleigh | Women’s March on Raleigh Anniversary Planning Event

December 1 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Last year, you pioneered a movement. You helped create and organize the Women’s March on Raleigh. The anniversary is approaching. You are specially invited to Pullen Memorial Baptist Church on December 1, from 7:00-8:30PM for an interest and planning meeting for an anniversary event.

Thank you Pastor Nancy Petty and Pullen Memorial Baptist Church for offering a space, to host again.

Invite friends who have an interest in helping. Leaders are needed, especially women of color, members of the LGBTQ community, immigrants, people with special health care needs, refugees, and Muslims. An email invitation also will be sent to our list-serve, tomorrow.

For the Women’s March on Raleigh, we came from different experiences, and many of us were first-time activists. Together, we shattered media and governmental expectations.

The Why: To defend and support communities under attack including women, immigrants, working families, Muslims, people of color, LGBTQ people, Jews, refugees, & people with special health or medical needs; to support living wages, affordable health care, reproductive health care, paid family & sick leave child care, adequately funded public education, and commonsense gun regulations; to oppose racially biased policing & mass incarceration, and deportations that tear apart families.

We became persisters, indivisibles, the resistance. We marched, rallied, called, protested, wrote, and continued the movement after the march.

Some of what we supported, attended or promoted this past year: the No Ban No Wall rally, HKonJ, anti-HB2 event at NCGA, Raise the Wage protest, Equal Rights Amendment event at the NCGA, Paid Sick Leave Rally, March for Science, March for Truth, Fund HB13 (arts, languages, PE) rally, Fairmaps Rally and events, the Rally against Islamophobia & Racism, Women’s Advocacy Day, Tuesday’s with Tillis, Pledge a Protestor, Empty-chair town hall events for Senators and Representatives, Legislative Trainings, call banks, and meeting with legislators.

Women are leading the resistance. Women are leading organizations, public office, and political actions across North Carolina, and on the anniversary of the historic Women’s March, we can continue the movement. Do you want to help plan the event?
