Since November, Americans have been engaged in nonstop peaceful resistance to the dangerous rhetoric and actions of the Trump administration and the GOP. Millions of us have marched, protested, called, written, and otherwise stood up. It’s time to take a moment and celebrate what we’ve achieved — and recharge for the work ahead — with a summer social gathering: a Resistance Summer Community Cook-Out!
The Resistance Summer Community Cookouts are an opportunity for a range of local and national partner groups in the Resistance to come together with friends old and new. We’ll build our relationships and celebrate the diversity that makes us stronger. Our goal is to encourage taking care of ourselves and each other, to celebrate all we’ve achieved, and to enjoy ourselves! These are ways to reinforce the resilience of the Resistance and help us to stay in it for the long haul.
We’ll be meeting at Pullen Park, Shelter #2 any time between 6:30 and 8:30. A few updates: 1. If you are volunteering to set up or tear down, I’ll send you some more information as we get closer to the event. 2. I will be supplying some of the food/drinks/paper products, but please fill out this google sheet to sign up to bring something if you’re able! (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tz3rDRot9ReL186yhjNUtB0kSifWr1GzF0fkohWrO34/edit?usp=sharing) 3. I have created a facebook event for us as well. If you could RSVP there in addition to this site, that would be great! It’s a great place for us to share pictures and information, and to communicate the day of the event.
