|When:||Saturday, June 2, 10:00 AM|
On June 2nd, our community will come together to honor National Gun Violence Awareness Day with our Triangle wide Wear Orange event! There will be food, music, and activities for kids, including the park’s sprayground! Orange is the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore in her honor when she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15 — just one week after performing at President Obama’s 2nd inaugural parade. We wear orange for Hadiya and for all those affected by gun violence. Orange is what hunters wear to protect themselves and others from harm. Orange is a bright, bold color that demands to be seen. Orange expresses our hope for a future free from gun violence. We demand to be seen and we demand to see change. Come join us, as we honor the lives of our loved ones, stolen by gun violence and celebrate the life we are each called to live.
